Hubbard Iowa
At the Hub of it All
The grandfather of our former United States President, Herbert Hoover, is buried in our Hubbard cemetery. He passed away in 1892. Herbert was president from 1929 to 1933.

The Hoover’s Uncle Eli and Aunt Hannah, as they were called in the little Quaker Church of Hubbard, were Herbert’s grandparents. They lived on a small fruit farm northeast of Hubbard.

One of their sons had a Butcher Shop in Hubbard and lived on a small acreage north of town.

One of Eli’s sons, Jesse, lived at West Branch. He was the father of Herbert.
The photo is that of Eli’s gravesite in Hubbard, Iowa.
